ATP—Airline Transport Pilot

Authorized to conduct pilot certifications at the ATP level for both single and multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft.

IRA—Instrument Rating Airplane

Authorized to conduct instrument rating add-on certifications for fixed wing aircraft for single and multi-engine. This can be combined with the PPL practical test in certain circumstances.

CFI—Certified Flight Instructor-Airplane Single Engine Initial

Authorized to conduct CFI Initial certifications as well as CFI add-on ratings to existing flight instructor ratings. The CFI ASE is normally the initial flight instructor rating sought however, under some circumstances, it may be an add-on to and existing flight instructor rating.

CFI Reinstatements

Authorized to issue CFI renewals based on a Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC) attendance, Duties and Responsibilities, Activity, or a practical test for the issuance of an additional CFI rating or just a practical for the renewal of an existing CFI rating without the addition of another CFI rating. Authorized to renew CFI rating based on Military experience.

Military Competence Rating & Certifications (Mil Comp)

Authorized to issued pilot and flight instructor certifications based on Mil Comp. FAA pilot certifications are issued at the CPL level only. Type rating will be issued at the commercial level unless the applicant already possesses an FAA pilot certificate at the ATP level, then the type rating will be issued at that level. Instrument privileges are normally always automatically attached due to all military pilots being instrument rated as military members. Flight instructor ratings are issued at the CFI, CFII, or MEI level depending on the applicants military qualifications. Refer to the Testing Details pages for information on the requirements, documentation, and required Airman Knowledge Tests (AKT) that may need to be completed in order to issue the certificate desired.

Foreign Conversions—Private through ATP; Instrument Ratings; Type Ratings

Authorized to issue pilot certifications PPL through ATP based on a foreign certificate. There are only a few foreign states that this is allowed as far as issuing an FAA certificate at the level held in the foreign state. Currently only Canadian pilot certificates issued by TCCA are authorized to be converted in this manner. Normally, pilot certificates up to ATP, as well as instrument ratings, and type ratings can be issued on an FAA certificate however, there are some restrictions under certain circumstances. Foreign Based Certification—Private Pilot Level (PL)

Authorized to issue pilot certificates up to the PPL level based on issuance of a member ICAO state pilot certificate. These may be able to have instrument privileges attached as well depending on the foreign certificate. These are only issued at the PPL level.
